A view in the Abruzzo National Park, to the south of Lu Lette and La Rocca; a visit to this park makes a pleasant day trip.
This yellow-flowered shrub with needle-like leaves is very common around LuLette and La Rocca. It is called "inestra," or "ginestra." It grows to a height of 5 or 6 feet, as you can see in the photo of the shepherd's hut--the shrubs to the left of the hut are inestra.
A working donkey in the Abruzzo National Park; these are not seen much any more.
The cimetero (cemetery) at Turrivalignani.
Wildflowers on Blockhaus.  The Maiella are covered with an incredible number of wildflowers and aromatic herbs.  A liquor which originated in this area,  called Centerbe (100 herbs), is made at Tocca da Casauria; it's flavored with the herbs of the Maiella.
