My great grandfather, Nicholas Cercone, came from Campo di Giove in 1908.  His son, Louis Francis Cercone, Sr., was born in Campo di Giove August 14, 1906.  My father visted Campo di Giove briefly a few years ago, but could not ascertain if there were any Cercones left in town.

I have a friend who is tracing their family tree and needs some help.  I believe he told me that his great great grandfather came from Campo Di Giove but he is unsure.  The name of his ancestor is Giovanni Ciampino who had two sons:  Salvotore Ciampino and Dominic Ciampino.  The father Giovanni Ciampino was born circa 1850 or thereabouts.  Can anyone help trace this any further?  In particular, he is interested in information about Giovanni Ciampino and the father, grandrather and mother of Giovanni Ciampino.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

DIGREGORIO /  DI MARZIO / VELLA
Adelia Cecchin
adeliagalliera@bigpond.com
My father Giuseppe Di Gregorio born in Campo DiGiove in 1921 and migrated to Melbourne Australia in 1956 followed by my mother Marietta (maiden surname Di Marzio), myself and brother in 1958.  My father’s supre nome is Peppino di Cansano as his father Cesare’s mother Annamaria was from Cansano.  My great grandmother Annamaria has another son Biaggo DiGregorio who migrated to the US in 1903 or 04.  Biaggo had a son Frank and a daughter Rose.  Would really appreciate any information about this side of the family – as I have always been curious of the family history and would like to  connect.  My father has a brother Luigi who lives in Campo Di Giove with his 2 sons Mario and Walter.
My grandmother Maria Di Gregorio (maiden surname Di Girolamo) had 3 bothers Eustacchio, Liberatore and Girolamo (who died in the war) and a sister Amelia (married surname Nanni).
My mother is the oldest of 5 – 3 brothers Eustacchio (living in Campo DiGiove ) Tommaso and Salvatore (living in Melbourne) and a sister Rosina (deceased).  My maternal grandmother’s surname was Vella – her name was Giovanna married Domenico Di Marzio (who was lost at war).  My mother’s supre nome is “ceca luppe”.  This was given to my grandfather Domenico as his sheep were never attached by wolves as were the others – therefore the townfolk said that he blinded the wolves!
Would really appreciate any information about the American side of my father’s family as I have been interested to connect with them.

I am looking for relatives of my great grandparents who were born in Campo di Giove.  Their names are Giusseppe Mariani and Caterina DeChellis, born approximately 1850-1865.  Their son, Alfonso Mariani, (my grandfather) was born in Campo di Giove December 27, 1896.  He emmigrated to the United States in the early 1900's and married my grandmother, Beradina Grossi, in 1920. Beradina Grossi was from the village, Villalago in Abruzzi.  Her parents names were Giuseppe Grossi and Concetta Gentilli from Villalago.
Any information regarding my relatives (email or phone numbers or addresses) would be grealty appreciated.   Thank you.

MASSAROTTI / VELLA

I've been searching for family records for sometime now but can't find any info in Campo di Giove for Vella or Massarotti.  My great grandmother was Caroline Vella (born 3/22/1894, died 1986) and from Campo di Giove she married Alberto Massarotti and had my grandmother Letizia.  They came to the US and settled in Walpole, Mass (1921).  They had two more children, Dante and Marie.  Letizia grew up and married Pasquale Alberico.  Any info would be appreciated - thanks.
P.S.  I have a small paperback book that my grandmother gave me: CAMPO DI GIOVE guida storico artistica by Virgilio Orsini.  It is written in Italian (which unfortunately I can't read).  On the back is a picture of a man and woman...I was told that woman was my great great grandmother but that the name was unknown.

RECCHIONE / FIORE-NANNI
Mike Livreri
vegasmikeandbecky@cox.net
My great great grandmother, Anna Lucia Recchione, was born in Campo di Giove' in 1864 and emigrated to the US in the early 1890's.  She married Abramo Ciccone from Pacentro.  She is the daughter of Antonio Domenico Recchione, born 1828 in Campo di Giove', and Ermida Concetta Fiore-Nanni, born 1831 in Campo di Giove'.  She had many siblings.  The only ones that I know of however are:  Giovanni, born 1859, Giuseppe, born 1860, Luigi, born 1865, and Gennaro, born 1872.  I was told that Lucia(Lucy) had 2 brothers that emigrated to Brasil.  I would love to find out who they were somehow.  A couple of the brothers settled in Pittsburgh, and were building contractors; Gennaro and Giuseppe.  They changed their name from Recchione to Richel.  I don't know why.  I am interested to know more about the Fiore-Nanni name.  Were they prominent in Campo di Giove?
Other Campo di Giove' names that I am researching are:  Di Iorio, Gallo, Nanni.
