| CASCIATO
Al Casciato ACasciato@royplas.com Hi, I was born in Pizzoferrato (Alfonso Casciato) my dad, Giuseppe came to Canada in 1961. My mother Altea Giovina and my brothers Guido and Bruno along with myself came in 1965. We have many relatives here in Canada as well as in Pittsburgh. My great aunt Emilia Sammartino was Bruno Sammartino's mother. Bruno and my father are first cousins. My grandmother is still alive (97 years old) Palma and living in Pizzoferrato. We lived in Merritt B.C. for a number of years, and know the Cavalieres. I hope this is of interest to someone. CASCIATO / PASQUARELLI / PALMERI Dan Casciato dan.casciato@comcast.net My grandfather, Giuseppe Casciato was born in Pizzoferrato around 1870, he was the son of Nicola Casciato, born 1832 and Domenica Pasquarelli, born 1840; they had my grandfather Giuseppe and a daughter named Maria. My grandfather came to Chicago when he was a teenager. He married and had five children. Does anyone know the origins of the CASCIATO name..where did this surname come from and why are there so many CASCIATOs in Pizzoferrato? Also, we had been acquainted with the family of Domenico Palmeri from Pizzoferrato, does anyone know this family and how to contact them? CASCIATO Lawrence Rapp lrapp@andrew.cmu.edu My grandmother Stella Almarente Casciato Cirelli came from Pizzoferrato. Her mother Colomba moved to Pittsburgh from Pizzoferrato and Almarente came separately. Colomba outlived three husbands, including Mr. Casciato and Mr Pollice. To the person asking about D'Aquilantes, there are some in Pittsburgh from Pizzoferrato; one of them (Enrico, or Rick) married my cousin Monica Pusateri, whose mother Teresa is one of Colomba's daughters with Mr. Pollice. D'Aquilantes also own an Italian restaurant in the Brookline section of Pittsburgh, but I don't remember the name. CAVALIERE / CONICELLA Whitney Cavaliere cavaliere_whitney@shaw.ca Hello my name is Whitney Cavaliere. My cousin Rino has posted some info on this page. I would like to do some research of my own. My Zio Fiore is Rino father, who is my father brother. My father's name is Remo Cavaliere. My grandfather's name was Valerio Cavaliere, he was adopted but kept his biological families name Cavaliere. My grand mother Gemma Conicella, is another family name I would like to explore for my fathers sake. My fathers family is from Pizzoferrato. I would appreciate any information anyone might have about the Cavaliere and Conicella families of Pizzoferrato. Thank you. CAVALIERE / PALMIERI / DI POCCIO / CONICELLA Rino Cavaliere rino@telus.net Hi, I was doing a search on Pizzoferato, well, because my father is from there. The surnames that I know from there include Cavaliere (my name), Palmieri (my aunts name), Di Poccio (an uncle), and Conicella (my grandma's name, along with my dad's cousins) D'AQUILANTE Michael Marino DAQ218@msn.com My grandfather was from Pizzoferrato; his last name was D'Aquilante. Anyone out there with that name? Her maiden name was Casciato. Her father's name was Ignatius Casciato born in 1839 in Pizzoferato. His wife was Donata whose maiden name was diMatteo. Her father's name was Francesco diMatteo and his wife's name was Domenica Recchiuti. Ignatius Casciato's father was Giacinto(george) and he married an Innocenzia Ragnelli. My grandmother Vincenza came to Canada in 1909 to Revelstoke. Her mother Donata moved there in 1901 after her husband Ignatius died in 1900. Hope this is of some interest. DI CESARE Reinhold Miebach reinhold.miebach@klinik.uni-regensburg.de I`m doing some research concerning the surname di Cesare. My father`s surname is Valente di Cesare, who was born in Sept. 1945 and still lives in Pizzoferrato (CH). I guess because there is not as much time passed through someone out there knows him, his family, his wife or his children? Any comments are greatly appreciated. DI PAOLO Fabrizio Davide Ruta FABRIZIORUTA@comcast.net The Surname Ruta comes from my fathers side, in Naples, but my mothers maiden name is DiPaolo, cousins of Pasquarelli, and some others, not known to me... I was born in Pizzoferrato, in 1964, Dec, 29. My family and I came to America in 1971. August. So I didn't have time to experience the whole of the italian culture... just a few years of childhood with our mule and chickens. We settled in Pittsburgh, it always struck me that we came from pizzoferrato (which I loosely translate to iron city or city of steel, and moved half way around the world only to live in Pittsburgh the iron city or the city of steel, although not by name, but by industry.) I wanted to know if there are any other Ruta's or DiPaolo's still in Pizzoferrato, and also I want to know what you could tell me about saint Domenico. It was my grandfathers name on my mothers side. so i am very curious. DI POCCIO / DI NARDO Karen Fridg kfridg@hotmail.com My great-grandmother, Sabia DiNardo (1874-1920) was from Gamberale. She married Guiseppe DiPoccio (1873-1915). I was always told he was from Pizzoferrato. They had (at least) 3 children, Nicola, Antonio born around 1910 (known in Pittsburgh as Anthony DePocco), and Emilia born in 1912, my grandmother, now Mary Bruno. The children were all born in Pizzoferrato. I was also told that an older child remained in Pizzoferrato. My great-grandmother and the children came to the US in 1915 and settled in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh to join my great-grandfather who was already here. I believe they first lived on Bouquet St. in Pittsburgh,PA. When my ggrandfather died, my ggrandmother later married Carmine Iandiorio and had a son, Albert (Iandiorio) Andiorio, also from Pittsburgh. Any information someone may have on my family will be greatly appreciated. PACELLI (PACELLIA) Kim Danie kdan9@bellsouth.net My grandfather Fedele Pacelli(a) from Pizzeferato came to US in 1906. He traveled back and forth from US to Italy until he married my grandmother Antoinetta (Antonia) D'Arcangelo, from Quadri, in 1926 and both came to US and settled in (Pittsburgh, PA). Family members will be traveling to Italy in September, my sister wants to marry at the same church. We know they received their license in Lanciano, but are trying to find the church. Can anyone help? PASQUARELLI Maria Pasquarelli mpasquarelli@cornerstonetheater.org My dad, Alfio Pasquarelli, who came to the US from Pizzoferrato when he was 12. ROSSI / SAMMARTINO Kim Rossi Kim.Rossi@amerinet-gpo.com My grandfather Donato Rossi was born in Pizzoferrato April 5, 1895. He came to the US in the early 1920’s. He married Lena Pasquarelli daughter of Antonio and Concetta Furio-Pasquarelli who had 12 children. He worked as a landscaper for the University of Pittsburgh and at J&L Steel for many years. He later brought over my “uncle” (really my 2nd cousin) Achilles in 1957. Achilles’ brother Eugenio still lives in Pizzoferrato and runs a restaurant with his family. We are also related to the Sammartino’s. |
