Hello! My maternal grandfather, Leopoldo Damicone (Leo) emigrated fromRivisondoli early in the 20th century. I forget the exact date, but Ican get it from the Ellis Island website. He came to the US, and joinedthe US Army and served in France and was decorated. He settled inRavenna Ohio, where he was a long time police officer. He married aSwedish orphan named Ingrid, or "Lena" and unfortunately I cannotremember her last name. They had 5 children; 2 daughters and 3 sons:Louise, Marie (my mother), William, Carl and Robert. At last check onlyLouise and Robert ("Bob") are still alive. My grandfather died inNovember, 1963, just days after the John F. Kennedy assassination. Iattended the funeral at the age of 10. There were several brothers thatemigrated to the US and settled in Ravenna along with my grandfather. Marie T. Damicone married Vito F. Giulitto (my father), who was the sonof Felice (Felix) Giulitto, from Bittrito, in Puglia, outside of Bari. Hope this has been of interest! Grazie

My husband's father is from Rivisondoli and his grandfather was a constable there and supposedly there is a monument in the middle of town with his name on it, Giovanni Liberatore.  My husband is Federico Liberatore and he grew up in the Beaver Valley just outside of Pittsburgh.  We are taking a cruise to Italy and Greece in April and were trying to find the town to see if we can visit it.

My Father's family came from Rivisondoli in 1912 - my Father's name was Octavio Liberatore (changed in the States to Roberts) and his parents were Nicholas Liberatore and Rose Daltorio (also from Rivisondoli).  I remember my grandmother having sisters and a brother in Rivisondoli. I do not know if my grandfather had any relatives there.   The family settled in Charleroi PA - where there were many other families from Rivisondoli - the Ramacone, Falcone, Fallio, Troianno, Monacks and Romitos.    We have relatives in New Kensington, PA and Warren OH.
Wondering if I have any relatives in Rivisondoli?

ROMITO
Dr. Roseann Romito
rromito@cchosp.com
My grandfather came from Rivisondoli.  His name was John (Giovanni) Romito.  For some reason people called him Frank, even people I met in Rivisondoli knew him be that name.  He was born in the late 1800's and went to the U.S.
at about age 15.  He had two sisters one went to connecticut and one to Vandegrift.  The one in Vandegrift married a Dicapita. He lived in Charleroi Pa.
He had a cousin QD Romito, whose family owned a hotel in Rivisondoli.  QD had at least one son Louis, who was a podiatrist in Charleroi.
There was also a cousin--Nicoli Romito.  I met him when I visited Rivisondoli in 1974.  He had no children.

My grandmother, Ada Spagnuolo, was born in Ohio.  Her parents were born and married in Rivisondoli.  They lived in Cincinnati, Kent, Niles, and Warren, Ohio, as well as Marlborough, Massachusetts.  My grandmother's parents were Michele Nicola Spagnuolo (1889 - 1986) and Giovanna Elisabetta Marino (1893 - 1985).  Michele Nicola Spagnuolo's parents were Croce Spagnuolo (son of Roberto Spagnuolo and Rita Di Loreto) and Clorinda De Capite, (1852 - 1934, daughter of Domenico De Capite).  Giovanna Elisabetta Marino's parents were Pasquale Marino and Angela Margadonna.
I'm not sure where Michele's and Elisabetta's ancestors were born, with the exception of Clorinda who was born in Rivisondoli and died in Kent.

TROCCHIO / DAMICONE
Thomas Trocchio
ttrocchio@earthlink.net
Having been tracing the family history for several years and visiting Rivisondoli, the following names are given for others:
Giuseppe D'Amicone voyaged to the States and settled in Butler Pa. at the turn of the century.  Had married a Gioconda Damicone just prior to his coming to Pa.  She later joined him.  She traveled back and forth to
Rivisondoli over the first 5 years of the century, bore 8 children of which 4 survived into adulthood, Mary, George, Olga, and Anna: my mother.
According to commune records Giuseppe was born June 19 1870 to George D'Amicone and Filomena "Romito"
His wife Secondina Gioconda "Damicone" D'Amicone was born May 20, 1873 to Rafael Damicone and Constanza "Romito" Damicone
Giuseppe had the following brothers/sisters:  Nocolo, Mario, Elizabetta, Ersilia, and Maris.
Secondina had a sister Giovanna and brother Nicolo.  Nicolo married a Maria Iarusso bearing children Thomas Constantino, Giovanna, Loretta, Armando, Rosina, Ersilia, Elizabetta and Rafael.  Of which Thomas, Constantino, and Armando emmigrated to the State.
Nicolo Antonio Trocchio arrived in New York on the Kaiser Wilhem !! and ended up in Clinton MA. In the states he married an Adelina Porciello born April 24, 1889 and herself emmigrated to the States in 1910, Capua, Itlay.
They had three children, Elvira, Mildred, and Joseph: my father.  In the early 20's Adelina, with her children left Nicolo with Thomas Damicone, the sone of Nicolo Damicone and Maria Iarusso, mentioned above and who after her divorce became married, living in Cleveland and later Detroit, MI.
Birth Records in Rivisondoli indicated Nicole Antonio Trocchio being born to Amidio and Giovanna "Damicone" all of whom came to the states over a period of three years at the turn of the century.
There is additonal detailed information I have been able to collect but it only adds to the many names, dates and interrelations, leading to confusion.  If any one is interested in more specific info I can be contaced at ttrocchio@earthlink.net
