DI PASQUALE / DE PASQUALE
Tony De Pasquale
NYTONYD@aol.com
The DiPasquale Brothers From Roccomorice, Abruzzi.
The members of my paternal grandfather's family are: (The original members are all deceased)

Angelo DiPasquale --the oldest brother Came to Waterloo or Geneva, NY in 1898.--He returned to and stayed in Roccomorice

Santo DiPasquale - my grandfather-born in 1872 (I think) and came to the USA in 1892 or 1897. He initially came to Geneva or Waterloo, NY but settled in Port Carbon and Palo Alto, PA around 1900. He married Assunta Casanova from Castel di Sangro, Abruzzi, in 1901 in Port Carbon, PA. They raised a large family, he was a coal miner and in 1921 moved to Lackawanna, NY with his family to work in the Bethlehem Steel Mills. He had black lung disease and died in 1932. My father, Anthony DiPasquale, was the second oldest of 10 surviving children. Lackawanna, NY is eventually where all the DiPasquale's settled.

Donato DiPasquale- younger brother-came to Lackawanna, NY. May have lived in Palo Alto, PA for a while and worked as a coal miner. Lived in Lackawanna, NY with his family in 1910 according to the US census. Worked in the Steel Mills and he died in the 1960's.

Salvatore DiPasquale-youngest brother. Settled in Palo Alto, PA, was a coal miner, married and raised a family there. He and his family joined my grandfather in Lackawanna, NY in 1923. He also worked in the Steel Mills and died in 1951.
If there were any sisters or females in this clan, they all stayed in Roccomorice. I do not know if there were any females in my grandfather's family. I also think his father's name was Carmine (my great grandfather). I do not know my paternal great grandmother's surname or first name. Many of the DiPasquale's had red hair and blue eyes, quite unusual for Italians. My father had crystal blue eyes. Somewhere along the line, between 1910 and 1920, the surname was changed to DePasquale in all the families here in the USA. No one knows how or why. If anyone else is researching these names or has any information about this family, please contact me.

Some names listed may have been American Translations.  Sorry...  I hope this information will link you to past family members.  I have a few recipes of my nonna (Graziella), but would appreciate more information about typical dishes from Roccamorice.  I know that Roccamoriceis at the foot hills in the maiella national park. I know it is referred to as La Rocca, but my nonna always called it Roccamorice.  I assume they mainly ate sheep or goat and products of those animals, but what vegatables did they usually use..  I am looking for typical dishes from the 1800's and 1900's.

My grandfather was Giacchino DiPierdomenico who married Rosalia DiFlorio ( and Rosalia had a sister Anna ) of Roccamorice. As I understand it Giacchino's father was Antonio ( as is my fathers  )  DiPierdomenico and mother is unknown. Giacchino, as I remember had two brothers Francisco ( son was Danato DiPierdomenico, later changed to Dane Barse ) and Perry Barse ?. Both Giacchino and Francisco came to the USA in the early 1906 or so, and Perry later.
My father Antonio DiPierdomenico (later changed to Barse) was born in Roccamorice in Aug.1917. Then was brought to the USA in 1936. Some where and sometime in the USA the last name was changed from DiPierdomenico to Barse, why I don't know.
Any information to help is deeply appreciated.
