| DELLE DONNE / BUCCI
Janet Armstrong Janet66@hotmail.com My grandfather came to America in1901. His name was Paul DELLE DONNE He married a Matilda Marcantonio in Dunbar Pa. She died around 1920. He later married Antonette BUCCI from Roccaraso Italy about that time. I got some Information from my aunts/uncles. They couldn’t tell me much because they never asked any questions. If anyone has any information if I have any relatives in Roccaraso I would like to know, or any information at all. STRAZZERA / MARCANTONIO - D'ALTORIO / IARUSSI Lizzie Strazzera LIZZIES@aol.com My family immigrated from Roccaraso to the United States around 1900. My grandfather, Pasquale Strazzera, son of Guiseppe Strazzera and Guiseppa Marcantonio, was married to Adelaide D'Altorio, daughter of Mattia Iarussi and Rocco D'Altorio. I'd be interested to know if anyone has any information on any of these surnames. TAMBURRINO / PANTALONE Diane Yates diane_yates@mentorg.com My family comes from Roccaraso. My grandfather (Guiseppe Tamburrino) came first (Tamuburrini or Tamburrino, as their surname changed after they got here) early in the 20th century and fought for his new country (USA) in WWI. After his first wife died of TB, he returned to Roccaraso to find another bride, my grandmother, Marietta (Maria) Pantalone. They returned to America, but never forgot their homeland. My mother said my grandmother was very upset by the bombing of Roccaraso in WWII, which I heard happened after Mussolini capitulated. Anyway, the rest is history, as they say. I grew up around people who spoke italian and broken english, but never picked up the language itself -- the attitude was, we're americans now and we want our kids and grandkids to speak english. I know Mom experienced quite a bit of bigotry in grade school due to her italian heritage, and she was always getting into schoolyard scraps, but I think she learned how to take care of herself. She used to refer to my grandfather as "little but mighty" (all 5' 1/4" of him) and I could say the same of her. |
