| This page is dedicated to Sara Jane Addario, wife of Giuseppe (Joseph) Addario September 2,1941 - November 25,2006 |
| I first met Sara through an Italian genealogy website where we were both looking for the surname of DiPaolo, among others. Since we were both interested in genealogy of our husband's lines from LaRocca and LuLette we struck up quite a friendship over the wires. Countless messages were sent back and forth as our friendship developed over our mutual interest of Abruzzo, centering around the small towns of LuLette and LaRocca.
In 1999, we decided we needed a website to tell people more about the 2 towns and let them know what we had found of interest. Thus "Benvenuto a Lettomanoppello e Roccamorice" was born. Also joining our efforts was Costantino Conte who is our resident singer and accordian player. With the site gaining more noteriety and growing bigger, we never imagined how popular it would become. Sara taught me a lot about websites and html codes, etc. I am sure I drove her crazy with my novice questions. Which is why we gave her the nickname of 'Avvocato". In 2000, we went to visit Sara and Joe and had a great time getting to know each other better. The next four years brought us even closer as we travelled to Abruzzo together . In 2005, Sara became ill and went through 2 major operations (including open-heart surgery) but finally succumbed to cancer in November of last year. I still expect to open an email from her as we were constantly sending letters back and forth. She was always the voice of reason and could say things much more eloquently than I ever could. This website is a reflection of her efforts and passion. She will be greatly missed not only for her expertise and advice but for what she was as a friend and human being. Sara was a kind, polite and friendly lady and would go way out of her way to do anything you would ask of her. Her quality's were the best. A person that you would love for her being just a simple down to earth person. A few words from Costantino Conte.... In our lifetime,we never know who will come into our lives. I stumbled across this site while searching for italian songs. Seeing Sara Addario's name and knowing that some of my relatives have the same name I contacted her. Sure enough, I was related to her husband Joe Addario who's family were also from LuLett. When she found out that I sang Italian songs and played the accordion, she immediately figured out how she could get it organized to make this possible for others to hear . Sara has given me so much that would never have been possible through my efforts. I will forever be so grateful for Sara being in my life. Having my roots in Lu Lett, she gave me the opportunity by working with her to learn so much of my own heritage and because of her I have knowledge that I could never acquire in a college. She became a true, loving and inspiring friend, but more than that - she was like another sister... May God be as gentle to her as she was to mankind. We Love You "Saraletessi" We with affection will continue our love for LuLett and LaRocca in eternity (Noi con-affezione continuare la nostre amore per LuLett e LaRocca in eternita) |
