September 2001: At La Roccia Agriturismo at Via Cusano, Roccamorice. Giovinna DiGiovanni and her husband Antonio Simone ( nickcname-Scututz) and their son Nunzio with Donato Rulli. Nunzio's wife - Maria Carmina Mancini - is the owner of LaRoccia.
September 2001: Boarding the train at Pescara after a day of museums and shopping to return 'home' to Lu Lette / La Rocca.  The train runs hourly to and from Scafa, which is only a few miles from Lu Lette and La Rocca; from Scafa there are local buses to the surrounding towns
September 2001: Dan Rulli, Bonnie's husband, shopping in the new Maxi Tigre supermarket in Scafa, the only modern supermarket in the vicinity of Lu Lette and La Rocca - it even has sliced bread!  ;o(
Like the cattle and sheep, domesticated horses sometimes wander free on the mountainsides above Lettomanoppello and Roccamorice.  This group of mares, one of which wears a bell so that the group can be located, doesn't seem at all averse to having a pat or two.
The snow-capped Morrone mountains in the distance. They are to the southwest of Lu Lette and La Rocca, but in this photo they are seen from the opposite side, i.e. Lu Lette and La Rocca would be on the other side of the Morrone from this viewpoint. September 2001.
September 2001: Snails come out in La Rocca after a few sprinkles of rain.  They are often gathered, cooked and eaten.
September 2001: Dinner at La Noce in Lettomanoppello.  Clockwise from the left: Joe Addario and friend Don Jean Paul; Emanuele Simone; Angeladea and Antonio Di Pietrantonio, proprietors (they are brother and sister, and Angeladea does the cooking); Lucia D'Alfonso.
