Fonte Pirella picnic area on the moutainside above Lu Lette. 2001
In the immediate foreground is the fonte or spring at the Fonte Pirella picnic area; the water enters from a pipe suspended at the left end; people get water from the pipe, while the trough is for sheep, goats and sheepdogs.   2001
This path in Lu Lette leads from Fonte Pirella to a picnic area at Fonte Fieri (center left) at the top of the ravine separating Lu Lette from La Rocca.  Grotta San Angelo is directly below Fonte Fieri, at the bottom of the ravine.  The land visible on the other side of the ravine is Roccamorice; tailings from the old Codacchio asphalt mine, where the asphalt was heated to extract petroleum in the 1940s, can be seen on the slopes of the ravine, just left of the photo's center.  For more about the old asphalt mines, see La Rocca Pg. 18.
