Top 4 photos submitted by Joan Galli.
Left to right Cesidio Galli (my great grandfather) born 1856 in LaRocca, Antonio Galli (my grandfather) and his two uncles, Carlo and (possibly) Donato.
Antonio, was about 12 or 13 in this picture and I believe it was
taken when they left for America from Roccomorice.
Iım not sure about these folks, but I believe they must be Galli great, great grandparents.... There is a striking resemblance with the men in the left picture.
My aunt, Marion Galli, gave this picture to me and she is no
longer living so I canıt verify their identities, but I think they must be her grandparents. if so their names would be Donato Antonio Galli, born 1818 and his wife Maria Antonia Dorinda Conte, born 1821. Both from Roccamorice.
My grandfatherıs living room in the house he built in Portland, Maine in l929. Antonio, my grandfather is the fellow to the far right. Proud man ! My father is the little guy right in the front to the left with the big smile... I think this must have been a holiday gathering or something. Family and friends. Canıt Identify all , but my grandmother is the woman behind my dad on the left holding the baby...who is probably my uncle. All of my aunts and uncles are in the picture.... Not sure of the other adults.
Joan Galli, Daughter of Arthur, Granddaughter of Antonio, Great
granddaughter of Cesidio Galli... with the official Greeter !
I traveled to Roccamorice in l996 and the first person I met in the town was Nunzio D'Alimonte. Adele Galli was kind enough to drive me to the town and introduce me to some folks... Nunzio insisted that I sample his grappa....Wow! Had a great time, very happy to find my ancestral town even though it was just for a couple of hours. I want to go back again !
Sons of Antonio Rulli and Angiolina DiPaolo of Roccamorice and Ontario, Canada. Donato and Santino in front and Domenico and Giuseppe in the back. Photo taken about 1951. The family came to Canada in 1959.
Google Earth photos of Roccamorice and Lettomanoppello. You can download this program to your computer and search for any place on earth. Very entertaining.
